Post-doctoral Positions available

The Centre has a few post-doctoral positions available each year for recent Ph.D.'s in theoretical physics with specialisation in any of the following areas: theoretical high energy physics and phenomenology, quantum field theory, mathematical physics, quantum computation, statistical mechanics, interface areas between particle physics and nuclear/astroparticle physics.

The present faculty of the Centre consists of B. Ananthanarayan, Biplob Bhattacherjee, Somnath Choudhary, Justin David, Rohini Godbole, Prasad Hegde, Jyothsna Komaragiri, Chethan Krishnan, Apoorva Patel, Diptiman Sen, Aninda Sinha, Sachindeo Vaidya and Sudhir Vempati.

The position is normally for a period of two years, but may be continued for a third year in exceptional cases. Bachelor's accommodation is available on campus. The salary would be around Rs. 22000 per month plus HRA (30% of salary if staying off-campus).

Those interested should follow the application procedure described here. Applicants who are not selected for the IISc Post-Doctoral Fellowship can still be considered for the Research Associate positions in the Centre through various faculty grants (at specific times as listed below).

Non-Indians should note that post-doctoral fellows of the Indian Institute of Science can only be paid in Rupees, and the amount is equivalent to about US $400 per month. They may therefore wish to explore other sources of funds or any exchange programmes which may exist between the governments of their country and India.

September 2017:
The Centre for High Energy Physics, IISc, may have one or two post-doctoral positions available under the DST Grant "Glimpses of New Physics". The position(s) can effectively start as soon as possible, but it provides no promise of housing on campus. The remuneration will be on par with DST norms and HRA will be 30%. Interested candidates can send in their applications before the deadline of 15 September 2017. The application should contain CV, list of publications and at least two letters of recommendation.
