The Advanced Centre for Applications of Quantum Field Theory (ACAQFT) was set up in December 2011 at IISc, as a 5-year Research Project sanctioned by the IRHPA scheme of the Science and Engineering Board, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. The project ended in January 2017.
The faculty of the Centre consists of:
The Centre also has as associate faculty:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------The main objective of the Centre is to bring together various scientists within India working on the subject of Quantum Field Theory. Such a nucleation is expected to lead to exchange of information, collaboration and cross-fertilization of ideas, leading to consolidation of effort in this field at the forefront of research in High Energy Physics as well as dissemination of its techniques to related subjects in Physics.
The areas covered by the faculty of the Centre are:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Centre offers several short-term positions to qualified candidates:
The Centre has a visitor programme in which scientists active in the field can spend extended periods (weeks to months) at IISc to collaborate and interact with the faculty of the Centre. Interested researchers should contact Prof. B. Ananthanarayan with the plans.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Centre holds regular seminars and journal club meetings.
The mandate of the Centre includes holding national scientific meetings
(school/workshop/conference) every year during its 5-year sanction period.
Details of these plans would regularly appear
here.
